The maternity department consists of the antenatal and maternity ward. The antenatal clinic is managed by three midwives who supervise health talks on ante- and post-natal care. Midwives perform full assessments and vital sign monitoring on all pregnant patients and any complications or abnormalities are referred to the medical officer.

The post-natal care includes examination of the baby, new-mother assessment and health education. Midwives assess vital signs of pregnant women and manage delivery of babies. The maternity ward is divided into first stage, second stage and lying-in ward. The first stage is when the pregnant mother is not quite ready to deliver and then when she is fully dilated, transferred to the second stage room for further management and delivery of baby. The lying in ward after the birth of baby is a room used for patient observation during the immediate postpartum phase. Midwives record vital signs throughout all three stages and manage delivery of all babies. They deliver about 125 babies per month.

Two Obstetrics and Gynecology specialists manage the department with a support staff of 15 Midwives and one ward assistant. The unit encourages and teaches newborn mothers to participate in Kangaroo mother care where the mother holds the baby on her chest to provide skin-to-skin care. Staff encourage exclusive breast feeding and good support for the mother both physically and mentally which ensures quality care and promotes mother baby bonding.
