Diagnostic services are made up laboratory, ultrasound and X-ray departments. These departments are specialized in using quality equipment in assessing patients for diagnostic purposes. Results obtained from these departments aide practitioners in making quick and accurate diagnosis leading to the creation of an evidence based care plan for patients.

Medical Laboratory

The medical laboratory unit is one of the sub-units under the department of Diagnostics. The services are under the direct supervision of the head of diagnostics and are managed by the technical head and has the following staff, three biomedical laboratory scientists, five technical officers and three laboratory assistants.

The laboratory runs a 24-hour service and it is committed to providing diagnostic excellence in all endeavors of medical conditions and is committed to the delivery of quality results to both medical staff and patients. Currently the areas of operation include; parasitology, hematology, biochemistry and cytology.

The laboratory staff are responsible for ensuring a quality system is implemented in all areas of the department. At this laboratory, the staff value and respect all the patients and clients and make every effort to provide high standard customer service and excellent results.

This laboratory also serves as a Center for practical training for various medical laboratory training schools in and around the Ashanti region.

Ultrasound Unit

The ultrasound unit has two staff; a sonographer and a sonographer’s assistant.  The department provides general services five days per week 12 hours per day and 24-hour emergency services which includes weekends. They carry out obstetric and gynecological services,  abdomen, pelvic and urogenital scans that help clinicians in making accurate diagnosis.
